Homework
Each Monday a Homework Recording sheet will be sent home.
1.) On the sheet will be the three word wall (trick words) for the week. These words are usually not spelled the way they sound, hence being tricky. Practice can be as easy as quizzing your child while you drive to the market, or you may choose to use one of the written options. Make it work for you and your child.
2.) The back of the sheet will have information explaining the spelling rule that we will be focusing on for that week. This is not connected to the word wall words. There will not be a set list of words attached to this skill. Students will be expected to be able to apply the spelling rule whenever necessary. Periodic assessments will occur in class.
3.) Students should record the amount of time they read each night. It is imperative that students read for at least 15-20 minutes each night.
4.) For Math practice, we are asking that students play a math game throughout the week. We will periodically send home the supplies needed for the games. iPad apps focusing on Math also count towards this time. Just record the game/app played. This does not need to happen every night.
Homework folders are to stay at home. These folders are to serve as a safe place to store all game components and word lists. As new games come home, add them to the folder.
